News Management

News Management enables an organisation to present the latest news and other notices to site visitors.  Site administrators can pre-define News categories under which news items can be classified. 

The News page will display a list of headlines and summaries within specified categories, making it easy for visitors to identify articles of interest.  When a visitor clicks on a news headline the full article is displayed.  At the bottom of each article is a button to return the reader to the News headlines page.

Each news article consists of a title, summary, author name, body and date.  Images can be inserted into the body of the text at any point.  For each news article added, an archive date can be specified.  On this date the article will automatically be transferred from the News page through to an archive area.  A link is provided on the News page to enable visitors to access archived news items. 

Access to the News user administration area is password controlled, ensuring that only authorised personnel can add news articles to the site.

As well as presenting news, the functionality offered by this module lends itself to a whole host of other applications.  To date it has been used in a number of imaginative ways - to display reviews, recipes and product information, to name a few.
