Security (User Registration and Access Control)

Security is used to manage public (visitor) and private (administrator/user) access to the website via a password-controlled administration area.  This enables a site administrator to delegate different access levels to authorised users according to their needs.  For example, the marketing manager may have full access and be able to add content to any area of the site, but the HR manager may have restricted access – enabling them to create and update content on the Vacancies page only. 

The site administrator can also restrict access to public areas of the site (eg, for subscription based content, client extranets, etc).  A simple, easy-to-use registration process enables visitors to set up their own passwords to enter the restricted access areas of the site. 

The security module also includes powerful user and visitor activity tracking features:

• User audit trails that provide the site administrator with information about which users have logged-in, from where and when, and what pages were accessed.  It is possible to use this function to review individual user or user group activity.
• Real time analysis of activity within the site (ie, see who’s connected and looking at what page).
• View all recorded site accesses and log-in failures.
• Block (using IP address) nuisance visitors from accessing the site.

These control mechanisms provide organisations with true peace of mind - safe in the knowledge that the integrity of their website is protected from unauthorised access.
